In line with the Customs Affairs’ commitment to developing programs that support the economic cycle and the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 by facilitating all customs procedures and services provided to customers, and in line with the directives of His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, to achieve the electronic transformation of services across all departments affiliated with the Ministry, Customs Affairs launched the updated version of the electronic payment service for customs fees and taxes due on customs declarations in cooperation with the Information and eGovernment Authority. The aim is to enable beneficiaries to pay all fees and taxes on their data set in a single payment process, which will save time and reduce costs, as this service will allow customers to pay the fees and taxes due within a period not exceeding 30 seconds.
Ms. Amal Issa Bujandal, Director of the Information Systems Department, revealed that the service will enable beneficiaries, whether merchants or their representatives, to expedite the payment of customs duties and taxes due for multiple customs declarations in a single payment transaction by visiting the National e-Government Portal website and selecting the Customs Duties and Taxes Payment Service. The service will also provide customers with several electronic payment options, whether using credit cards or ATM cards.
Boujendel explained that this service is available to beneficiaries from the following segments, including customs brokers, owners of Bahraini and Gulf commercial records, governmental and non-governmental entities, military missions, embassies and consulates, in addition to universities, schools and other institutions. She stressed that Customs Affairs is keen to provide customs services through several electronic payment channels, as the service of paying customs duties and taxes was recently included among the services available in the self-service devices (Tamm) , which provide immediate and secure payment operations.
